God’s calling is a strange and wonderful thing.  It can feel like this -

“doing that one thing you absolutely know that you cannot not do,

even if it costs you not less than everything”.

Leading retreats, producing devotional resources, and accompanying others spiritually involves a beautiful but costly love.  A book never comes to life through the author alone, but through the hidden behind-the-scenes support of many others who pray, advise, give encouragement, and contribute to the expenses involved in writing.  I could not fulfil God’s calling to be a writer or retreat leader without such support, and I am deeply indebted to those who have been behind me in this way since I stepped away from my career two decades ago. 

But I am now at a point where I need further support to continue this ministry.

Choosing to 'live by faith' might sound admirable, even holy, but the reality is that it can be deeply challenging. The hidden costs of producing my latest book have been high, so my piggy bank is rattlingly empty and money for everyday living is tight.  But I trust that God has a plan.
